These next two sections close out Day 1 of the retreat. They begin in the kitchen, where the rhythm of dishwashing unexpectedly stirs an old wound. And then ends in the meditation hall, where a Dharma talk gently reframes letting go.

A short time after lunch, I joined the second shift for dishes in the back kitchen, checking in for my first work meditation.
