About Light
A Memoir Into Stillness
This isn’t just a book.
It’s a process. A practice.
A remembering. A letting go.
A listening to what remains.
A space for exploring what words can’t quite hold,
and what happens when we try anyway.
Each chapter is a step.
Each pause, a practice.
Each sentence, a pointer. Not to answers, but to attention.
I’m Glenn.
Writer. Father. Former strategist. Perpetual seeker and questioner.
After 25 years of building stories for organizations, I stepped out of that world and into silence. No title. No agenda. Just a seat on a cushion.
I scheduled five days of stillness at a Vipassanā retreat out of curiosity for what the experience might reveal.
It started with the open question: What remains when there’s nothing to do but listen?
This memoir began as a way to remember what transpired while I was there.
It became a way to live again. And now, it continues as a shared exploration.
What You’ll Find Here
A serialized unfolding of Light: A 5-Day Memoir Into Stillness
Nine chapters total: Preface, Prologue, Days 0–5, and an Epilogue
Nearly 40 sections, released weekly with occasional background
Open invitations for comments, questions, and collaborative reflection
This space is not for instruction, but for collaboration.
Not a lecture, but a shared witnessing.
A practice of writing, reflecting, and revising together.
Why This Matters
I believe stillness isn’t something we find once and hold onto.
It’s something we return to. Over and over. Each time, a little differently.
This book is not about Buddhism, but it is shaped by a Buddhist retreat.
It’s not a how-to guide, but a how-it-felt.
Not doctrine, but discovery.
I don’t claim wisdom. Only presence.
And a willingness to look, to feel, to try and put into written words what I’ve found ineffable to say out loud.
And perhaps, in these glimpses, you’ll see a reflection of your own stillness,
your own transition, your own attention, turning inward toward itself.
Rhythm
Weekly: Sections of each chapter released Monday and Thursday
Periodic reflections in Notes, sharing where the process is leading
Invitations to offer feedback and help shape the final manuscript
Eventually, these drafts will be revised, gathering your insights, and published as a complete book: print, digital, and audio.
If something here stirs something in you,
if it reminds you of something half-remembered,
if it simply gives you pause, I'd love to hear what opened.
This isn’t a broadcast.
It’s an unfolding.
A shared noticing.
